Plant Sale May 7
Spring seems to have finally arrived and so it is time to announce the Great Burritt’s Rapids Plant Sale to be held this year on Saturday May 7th starting at 8:30 am at the Community Hall. If the past is any indication, plants will go quickly and the sale will probably be over by mid to late-morning. So don’t have that second cup of coffee, race to the sale instead and have one with us. The coffee is free!
This year, in addition to some fine specimens from the gardens of the community, we have purchased (with the kind assistance of RideauWoodlandRamble) and have for sale, at a very good price, the following featured plants:
- 'Fire Star' Dianthus (red) - $12
- 'Neon Star' Dianthus (pink) - $12
- 'Jack Frost' Brunnera (blue) - $15
- 'Jurassic Park' Hosta (blue turning to green) - $15
There are only limited quantities available, however, so act quickly!
As with previous sales, we would be happy to accept potted and identified plants from the community for the sale. So if you need to thin your gardens and want to help us out, please drop off your surplus the morning of the day before the sale at the Community Hall. (If this proves impossible for logistical reasons, please let me know and we can try to work something out.)
I would also like to take this opportunity to ask you once again to consider volunteering a little of your time this year to help maintain the public gardens in the Hamlet. In the medium term it is simply not sustainable to continue to rely on the few who help us year after year, although we do appreciate their commitment. I can assure you that the work is fun and rewarding. Volunteers are also eligible for a discount at the RideauWoodlandRamble of 10%, and we are trying to get the same deal for you at Floral Designs. Please let me know if you can spare some time for us this year.
See you at the sale, and volunteering in the gardens (we hope).
Welcome to our on-line Community!
I hope you find this website a useful tool to keep in touch with activities and events in and around the community of Burritt's Rapids. While things often look quiet in this hamlet, you may be surprised to learn how many projects are underway to maintain and improve our buildings and facilities; to leverage and display it's resources and to bring people together to share and enjoy themselves.
This website is intended to serve the community of Burritt's Rapids, and as such we will endeavor to keep it as up-to-date as possible. What we need from you is your input and feedback so that we know where to spend more effort and where to spend less effort.
Please explore the website to discover what it has to offer.
